City Council has approved an ordinance requiring cat owners to license their pets. At this point no fee has been officially mandated, and there will probably be a grace period to get a license without cost.
Long Beach Animal Care Services is hosting a low-cost microchip clinic this Saturday at Houghton Park where pets can be micro-chipped and registered at a mobile clinic for $10. Licenses can also be issued for animals with proof of up-to-date vaccinations. The will be other mobile clinics in other parts of the city in months to come.
